Skin Peel FAQs
→ What do chemical peels contain?
Ingredients vary from peel to peel but the main ingredients would be a combination of types of acids. Examples of these acids are glycolic, salicylic, citric, pyruvic and retinoic.
→ Which chemical peels do you use at Dermal health?
We use the ZO Stimulator peel, the Definesse classic peel, and the Definesse Lightening peel.
→ What happens during the chemical peel treatment?
After a cleansing of the skin a pre-peel solution is applied to the area with the use of gauze or cotton wool. This solution stays on your skin. After covering your eyes and hair the selected peel is then applied to your skin using a brush or sponge. A couple of minutes later a white coating will appear as any solvents present in the peel evaporate. You may experience a tingling or tightening feeling at this point. The peel stays on the skin for a specific amount of time before it is neutralised and removed. A cool compress is then applied to the skin.
→ How long do chemical peels take to work?
Depending on the peel you had you will start to see new, healthy skin after approximately 7-14 days.
→ Is there any downtime with chemical peels?
We use 3 different types of peels so downtime might vary slightly. In general you might experience some redness and skin peeling for up to 48 hours following the peel procedure.
