Frown Lines Treatment

At Dermal Health we currently have three treatment options for frown lines. Why? Because a choice allows us to offer the best solution to each individual patient.

Why Do Frown Lines Form?

Your frown lines may have formed due to one singular, or a combination of factors. Here are six primary contributors to their development:

Collagen and Elastin Breakdown

Collagen and elastin are two vital proteins that maintain the skin’s structure and elasticity. As our age increases, the production of these proteins diminishes, and the existing fibres deteriorate. Wrinkles and loss of skin firmness are the consequences.

Decreased Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is needed in the body to keep the skin hydrated and plump. With age, the levels of hyaluronic acid decrease, causing skin dehydration and volume loss, which further contribute to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles, including frown lines.

Thinning Skin

The outer layer of the skin, known as the epidermis, becomes thinner over time due to slower cell turnover and reduced new cell production. This makes the skin more susceptible to environmental damage and the formation of wrinkles.

Slower Cell Renewal

Ageing slows down the process of cell turnover. This leads to the accumulation of dead skin cells on the surface. This results in a dull complexion and more pronounced fine lines and wrinkles.

Repetitive Facial Movements

The skin between the eyebrows is frequently subjected to movements such as frowning, squinting, and concentrating. Repetitive muscle contractions cause the skin to crease and form permanent lines.

Frown Line Treatments at Dermal Health

Vitaran Polynucleotides

Our carefully selected Vitaran treatment forms part of our polynucleotide range. It involves injecting polynucleotide molecules to stimulate skin regeneration at the cellular level. This treatment supports tissue repair and enhances skin hydration, improving skin texture and elasticity. Vitaran effectively encourages the natural synthesis of collagen and elastin, addressing the root causes of your frown lines.

Polynucleotides work by integrating into the skin’s existing DNA framework, boosting the skin’s natural repair processes that decrease with age. They help with reducing the visibility of fine lines, especially around sensitive areas like the eyes. Polynucleotides improve skin elasticity and firmness across the desired facial zones.

Sunekos Performa

Sunekos Performa (part of our skin booster treatment range) combines hyaluronic acid with amino acids to rejuvenate the skin. When used to specifically target the delicate area between the eyebrows the treatment goes on to boost the skin’s natural regeneration processes. This aids the skin to produce collagen and elastin and gives significant reduction to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The unique blend of hyaluronic acid and amino acids in Sunekos Performa is designed to penetrate deeply into the skin layers of the glabella, stimulating the skin’s natural regeneration processes more effectively than traditional treatments.

Botulinum Toxin Type A

A well-established treatment for frown lines, Botulinum toxin, is injected in precise amounts to relax the muscles responsible for these wrinkles. This treatment not only reduces existing lines but also prevents new ones from forming by inhibiting repetitive facial movements, including frowning. Read more about Botulinum Toxin.

What else can you do to reduce your frown lines?

Frown lines deepen with age and expression but can be mitigated through several proactive measures. Apart from the aforementioned in-clinic treatments, other methods may help you diminish these lines.

One effective strategy is to take the time out to consciously relax your facial muscles. The ones that engaged during frowning. Awareness of your facial expressions throughout the day can significantly reduce the frequency of these expressions and reduce the chance of the lines forming.

Maintaining a relaxed facial posture should be supported by managing stress and anxiety, which are common drivers for tightened facial muscles.

Incorporating specific skincare treatments can also play a supporting role in the minimisation of frown lines. Regular use of moisturisers that contain active ingredients like retinoids, peptides, and antioxidants can help to improve skin elasticity and reduce fine lines.

These treatments, combined with a diligent skincare routine and lifestyle adjustments, offer more opportunities for managing/reducing frown lines.
