We are a CQC-registered aesthetic clinic
We are a CQC-registered aesthetic clinic. This page explains what the Care Quality Commission (CQC) is and what our registration means for your safety and the quality of your treatment with Dermal Health.
What is the CQC?
The CQC is the independent regulator of all health and social care services in England. Its role is to ensure that clinics like ours provide people with care that is safe, effective, compassionate, and of a high standard. A clinic cannot simply decide to be registered. It involves a detailed inspection and continuous monitoring process. This framework helps ensure that when you use a CQC-registered clinic, you are entering a space that is held to account for its medical and safety standards.
During the registration process, the CQC assesses five key areas:
- Safety – Are patients protected from harm and risk?
- Effectiveness – Do treatments lead to good outcomes?
- Caring – Are patients treated with compassion and dignity?
- Responsiveness – Are services organised around patient needs?
- Leadership – Is the clinic well-managed and clinically led?
What Our CQC Registration Means for Your Care
1. A Foundation of Safety and Quality
The CQC sets out fundamental standards of care. This means you can expect your treatment to take place in a medically clean and safe environment where you are treated with dignity. It provides a baseline for high-quality care, which we see as the starting point for the bespoke service we offer.
2. Care That is Right for You
A key CQC principle (Regulation 11) is informed consent. You will always receive clear information about any proposed treatment, explained in a way that you can understand. We take the time to discuss your options, and you will never be pressured into a decision. This aligns perfectly with Úna’s personal, un-rushed approach, ensuring the treatment plan is genuinely right for you.
3. Led by Medical Expertise
CQC-registered clinics must be well-led. Úna’s extensive medical background—including her MSc in Clinical Dermatology, status as an Independent Prescriber, and her ongoing work in NHS dermatology departments—provides the expert leadership that this standard requires. Your care is guided by deep medical knowledge and experience. You can view Úna’s CQC registration here.
4. A Commitment to Evidence-Based Practice
The CQC framework encourages a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Úna’s regular attendance at medical conferences and workshops is part of this commitment. This means the treatments, skincare, and advice we provide you are based on current, evidence-based research for effective and reliable outcomes.
5. Your Voice is Heard
Being CQC-regulated means we are accountable. The CQC has a robust system for feedback and actively encourages patients to share their experiences. This formalises our existing promise to you—that we are here to support you before, during, and after your treatment, ensuring all your questions are answered.
CQC – A Mark of Genuine Regulation
When looking for a clinic, it’s helpful to understand what CQC registration signifies. There is only one level of registration with the CQC. A clinic is either registered or it is not. Terms like ‘CQC-accredited’ or ‘CQC-approved’ can be misleading, as the CQC does not endorse clinics in this way.
Choosing a clinic that is officially registered with the CQC is a direct way to verify its commitment to meeting national standards for safety and quality. You can see our registration and any information on the CQC website at any time.
At Dermal Health, this registration underpins our holistic philosophy, – combining medical excellence with a personal, supportive approach to help you feel confident in your skin.
